President CHOI, Wan-Hyun Choi (born in 1964) majored in Fisheries Management (1991), Fisheries and Ocean Science (2002, Master of Science), and Marine Fisheries Management (2020, PhD) at Pukyong National University.
Over the past 25 years, he has been in charge of planning and implementing policies for the development of aquaculture and fisheries resources management through his careers as director of Fisheries Policy Division, Aquaculture Industry Division, Fisheries Development Division, head of Overseas Fisheries & International Policy Bureau, Fishery Resources Policy Bureau, Fisheries Resources Policy Bureau and Fisheries Policy Bureau, and Deputy Minister for Fisheries Policy Office of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
President CHOI, Wan-Hyun has been responsible for national R&D projects in the fisheries and aquaculture in the Republic of Korea since his inauguration as President of the National Institute of Fisheries Sciences of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2019.
In particular, in order to strengthen the global network of fisheries science and technology, he is promoting international research cooperation projects with fisheries research institutes in China, Japan, Russia, the United States and Europe. He is also leading the efforts to advance the Korean fisheries science and technology to the globe through ODA projects to transfer the advanced technology of fishery and aquaculture to developing countries with poor foundation of fishery science and technology.

Ma Chang-mo (1973) majored in fisheries management at Pukyung National University(2001) and agriculture economics at Seoul National University (2017). He has been working at the Korea Maritime Institute(KMI) under the Prime Minister's Office for 17 years and has conducted research on fisheries policies, international fisheries and aquaculture industries. Ma Chang-mo is a director of the Korea Fisheries Management Association, secretary general of the Future Aquaculture Investment Forum, and a member of the Ministry of Industry's Science and Technology Level Assessment Committee. Recently, he has been participating in aquafarm 4.0 project.

Koji Yamamoto has marine biology degree from Bangor University and aquaculture master degree from James Cook University. Prior to joining the ASC, he had worked in over 20 countries as an aquaculture specialist for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA) to implement aquaculture development projects. Since September 2017, he has been working as a general manager of ASC Japan to promote environmentally and socially responsible aquaculture in Japan and in the region.

Status and prospect of Biofloc Technology (BFT) for Shrimp Farming as an Environmental-friendly Aquaculture Strategy in Korea

Dr. Jang (1958) studied Animal Science (1978) at Busan National University of Korea. He had worked on shrimp culture and disease management for over 20 years at National Institute of Fisheries Science (NIFS) of Korea.
He firstly introduced white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei to Korea, successfully implementing farming technology to private sectors and developed biofloc technology (BFT) to successfully apply commercial shrimp farming. He established shrimp farming infrastructure in Algeria and succeeded to produce marine shrimp in the Saharan desert of the north Africa as an official development assistance (ODA) project of Korean government. So far, he has conducted feasibility studies, consulting and international researches of shrimp farming in more than 15 countries.
Dr. Jang is responsible for shrimp farming development in Kuwait as a consultant of Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the shrimp farming project of Algeria as a project manager for ODA project of Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Dr. Jang is also a member of executive directors of Joongkyeom Biotech. Co. Ltd. which is developing specific antibodies of infectious shrimp diseases.

Eunik, Cho (born in 1970) majored in economics at Sogang University and started the Samsung Group Venture Investment Team, and has been a venture capitalist at KTB and HB Investment, as well as investment in various fields such as film and drama, until 2010.
He has invested in the offshore aquaculture facility company to apply the most efficient aquaculture methods under the reduced environment of global aquatic resources. and he is also investing in a company specializing in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems to support land based aquaculture farms to be more environment friendly.
In 2016, He found the Jeju Offshore Aquaculture and has been working hard to cultivate tuna and artificial seedlings for the first time in Korea, with minimal impact on the sea environment.

Engineering Ocean Aquaculture Structures for Exposed Sites A U.S. Perspective
Tobias Dewhurst

Dr. Tobias Dewhurst is the CEO of Kelson Marine Co. He is an experimental and numerical hydrodynamicist who specializes in the interaction of floating structures with waves and currents. He earned his PhD at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) characterizing the dynamics of submersible mussel rafts. He earned a master's degree in ocean engineering investigating test platforms for tidal energy conversion technologies. He previously managed industry and research projects in renewable energy and offshore aquaculture for Maine Marine Composites. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) whose projects include the design of hectare-scale macroalgae cultivation systems, the analysis and optimization large commercial shellfish farms, and the hydrodynamic and mooring analysis for Wave Energy Converter prototypes.
Dr. Dewhurst serves on the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers technical panel on Aquaculture and the Blue Economy, the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) Working Group on Open Ocean Aquaculture, and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Technical Advisory Group Shadow Committee for IEC TS 62600-2: Design requirements for marine energy systems.

Dr. Cho Jung-hee studied Oceanography at Inha University, Korea(1991, B.A.), Coastal Zone Management at Nova Southeastern University, USA(1994, M.A.), Natural Resource Economics(1997, M.A.), and Environmental and Natural Resource Economics(2001, Ph.D.) at University of Rhode Island, USA.
His research areas of interests are Fisheries Resource Management, Fisheries Trade, International Cooperation and Official Development Assistant on oceans and fisheries. He has been worked as a deputy president of the Fisheries Policy Division at Korea Maritime Institute since 2016.
Dr. Cho Jung-hee has participated in numerous professional advisory committees and Korea delegations for Korea Government as an expert on oceans and fisheries field.

Mr. Kyungdae Byun (Birth 1961. 12. 16) majored in international economics, completed bachelor's and master's courses, and has been engaged in international trade in agricultural and fishery products for over 30 years.
Entered Myanmar about 20 years ago and has been operating a business, and has lived in Myanmar since about 7 years ago and has been engaged in fisheries product trade and aquaculture industry under the position of honorary Attach챕 of maritime and fishery in department of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of Korea.
Continuing close deals with cooperatives in Asia, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Bangladesh, and in the Middle East, including Oman and Saudi Arabia.
In charge of a standing advisor to the Fisheries Export and Processor Association of Myanmar, a policy advisor to the Myanmar Fisheries Administration, and a secretary to the Korea-Myanmar Fisheries Development Committee.
